We use raw materials that respect the moods of nature and the passing of the seasons. We welcome you to a place of peace where you can enjoy a precious moment of tranquility and escape.
Our restaurant on Lake Como
Since the mid-1800s, what is today known as Hosteria del Platano was an important point of reference for those, on foot or horseback, traveling the road along the eastern shore of Lake Como towards Valtellina or Switzerland.
Originally a post station, here horses had a blacksmith ready to fix the horseshoes essential for traveling our country roads, and travelers were always ensured a hot meal and a fine glass of wine! (In this regard, note the original doors of the Hosteria from that era!)
Later, it transformed into a true Inn that offered meals and lodging to those who desired it, eventually becoming a tavern and tobacconist during the twentieth century. Over the years, the establishment changed names several times and went through various managements; however, this tavern never closed its doors, carrying on an important tradition that bears witness to the culture of the lake’s villages even today.

Wonderful is the view from our terrace overlooking Lake Como.
From here, we admire the tip of Varenna, that of Bellagio, and Tremezzina right in the heart of the mid-lake where the most beautiful shores are overshadowed by imposing mountains behind which the sun sets, offering unforgettable sunsets.

Simone, Riccardo & Norma have been working together for over 10 years.
Ours is a simple and healthy kitchen, we offer home cooking with recipes, sometimes “reviewed and corrected” from our mothers and the people we have loved. Partly because we liked them so much and partly to keep their memory alive.
And a beautiful memory is what we want to leave to those who have chosen to spend some of their time at Hosteria del Platano!
